Ohio Energy Efficient New Homes

Program deadlines are approaching. Homes must be rated and submitted by December 31, 2014. Contact a representative for details.

Through strategic activities with builder associations, code officials, the ENERGY STAR® program and FirstEnergy's utilities, participating contractors will have access to marketing, incentives and educational materials that facilitate the construction of energy efficient homes. To qualify for incentives, homes will meet rigorous third-party verification standards for energy efficiency, providing the following advantages to homebuyers and their families:

  • Increased comfort
  • Enhanced energy performance and savings
  • Increased marketability

Remodeling a home?

If you're doing a gut rehab (opening up all interior walls down to the studs), your project may qualify for FirstEnergy's utilities' new homes incentives.

Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison (FirstEnergy's utilities) offer incentives to builders of energy efficient homes in the companies’ Ohio service territories. ENERGY STAR® certification is a pre-requisite for participation. Then, builders of new residential construction are eligible to receive $400 per home plus $0.10 per kWh saved for homes that perform 15 percent better than the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code. Consult a participating energy rater for more details on how new homes can qualify for incentives through your FirstEnergy utilities' programs.
